Odysseus is now trapped in Calypso's island. He aches to escape and make his way home back to Ithaca. Our hero finds himself crying and scanning the horizon of the sea. Because of Athena, Zeus agrees to send Hermes to order the goddess to release Odysseus. Calypso eventually sets him free, she tempted him one last time, this time she made a promise of immortality about his wife. Odysseus builds a raft and sets sail, but Poseidon, who is intensely mad at him, raises a storm and wrecks his boat. Odysseus finds himself on the island of Scheria and falls asleep in a pile of leaves.
